Dan Edwards

Dan R. Edwards was born in Portsmouth, Virginia April 1st, 1951. After graduating public school in Chesapeake, Virginia in 1969, he attended Tidewater Community College in Portsmouth, Virginia and Madison College (now James Madison University) in Harrisonburg, Virginia where he earned his Associates, Bachelors, and Masters degrees in music and music education. Dan has been a public school teacher, organist, choir director, and presently serves as Minister of Worship at Lake Drummond Baptist Church in Chesapeake, Virginia. He has been a published composer for 25 years and his choral, instrumental, and handbell arrangements appear in the catalogs of over 15 established music publishers in America. In 2004, he was honored as Composer of theYear by Jeffers Handbell Supply of Irmo, South Carolina. He is also author of a coming-of-age series entitled The Adventures of Jimmy Wanger published by PublishAmerica.

Dan has been married for 39 years to Lori Somerville Edwards who teaches music in the Chesapeake City Public Schools. They have two children, Rebecca, 29, and John, 24.
