Dennis and Nan Allen shared a remarkable life and ministry together for decades. They made their home just south of Nashville in Spring Hill, Tennessee. Together, they were longtime freelance writers and adjunct professors at Truett McConnell University, where they previously served on the full-time faculty for seven years. Over the course of their life together, Dennis and Nan served in church music ministry positions in four different states, bringing their shared calling and creativity to congregations across the country.
For more than forty years, Dennis and Nan Allen were inseparable collaborators, writing hundreds of compositions for children, students, and adults. Their combined output includes musicals, collections, orchestrations, dramatic works, and individual songs that have sold more than three million copies worldwide. They were multiple recipients of the GMA Dove Award, and their music continues to be sung, performed, and loved by choirs and churches around the globe.
Following Dennis’s passing in 2025, Nan continues the work and legacy they built together. In addition to her extensive contributions as a composer and lyricist, Nan is the author of five books, including two novels, a Christmas non-fiction storybook, a book on song and hymn lyrics, and a Southern memoir. She also continues to write regularly through her well-loved blog and devotional series.
