Composer, Director, Teacher, Ringer, Mentor - Kathleen Wissinger embraces all aspects of handbells. Since 1988 she has directed children's through advanced teens' and adults' groups, writing music for the entire range. Fifteen years teaching handbells in a small private school have inspired her to create a unique pedagogical series of handbell music and a pedagogical method book. Square One. Kathleen teaches 4th-8th grade handbell classes, directs Gloria Dei (adult) handbell ensemble and is founding Artistic Director of MOSAIC, a community handbell ensemble in the Shenandoah Valley celebrating its 9th year. She frequently teaches at/directs handbell events - large and small, beginning through advanced, youth and adult, local events, church conferences, National Seminars and International Symposia; has led introductory workshops for music education majors and coaching sessions for college handbell groups. Kath mentors start-up groups, coordinates the Education Column for the HMA magazine Overtones and chairs the CHIME Loan program for Area 3 HMA.
