A Festival of Lessons and Carols
Format: Choral Score
Voicing: SATB/SAB
By Hal H. Hopson
For the many churches that do a service of lessons and carols each year, as well as those new to the tradition, Hal Hopson’s A Festival of Lessons and Carols has become a staple in choral libraries. This service contains a variety of carols – some familiar, some unfamiliar – arranged in Hopson’s trademark, majestic style. The traditional nine lessons have been updated by Mr. Hopson and reflect today’s important linguistic considerations, such as inclusive language, natural poetic phrasing, and clarity of thought. Perform with organ alone or the optional orchestration. Duration: Approx. 50 minutes.
Now Available: An SAB voicing of this work, making it accessible to choirs of all sizes and capabilities.
Orchestration Instrumentation: Handbells, Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello, Bass, Organ, Percussion
